Please oh please help be find the correlation here.....
1) General Pervez Musharraf, the President of Pakistan, appeared on Jon Stewart last night and hilarity ensued. Today, while receiving a 'health-check' in Texas (I think I've been to that club....) there was evidently a power-outage in Islamabad and sparked a wave (ouch, sorry) of speculation that there was an attempted military coup by the past regime. It turned out to be a false rumor, for now at least. Shades of Thailand.
2) Pakistan and India, two allies of the United States in so many byzantine ways that it boggles the mind, recently sat down to discuss their differences like gentlemen. What is the perfect setting for good Democratic discourse? Naturally, they picked Havana, Cuba. I'm sorry, did I say Allies?
(for the record, I really don't have that much of an issue with Cuba, but the entire world knows we have a special place in our foreign policy for Fidel et al, and this cannot be construed as a coincidence)
3) And this is really questionable and unsubstantiated, but passes the plausibility test..... Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (of Iran), Hugo Chavez (of Venezuela), and Raul (little brother) Castro have evidently been considering placing some Iranian missiles within range of United States territory in Cuba and Venezuela. Possibly a 'Cuban Missile Crisis II' as a deterrent for military action against the imminent November Iranian nuclear program coming online?
I'm trying to put these in a broader perspective, but failing. Any help?
Next, the feeling of freefall down the rabbit-hole.
